Burning off woods at night. Good for the trees and
good for the wildlife. Helps prevent serious wildfire by burning up
excess fuel on the ground. This is why you don't here too much about
out of control deadly wildfires in our area. Prescribed Fire.......it
is how we manage land in our area and it is a good thing.

Corn Snake or Rat Snake. Very pretty Markings, non-poisonous but
ill-tempered. |
A little bit of glare but this was a picture of an actual spring that
was on 191 acre tract in North Grady County that we sold back in the
fall of 03. This was on the side of a hill and you could see little
sugar sand volcanoes shooting up as the water shot upwards. Really
fascinating. |
Early morning shot of the sun coming up over the Everglades, (Chuckoluskee)
If you have never been to the Everglades, you gotta go. Some of God's
best work..... and the fishing aint bad either! |
You don't need a bunch of land to bag good bucks. All of these were
taken between 1996 and 2003 on just a little less than 150 acre that was
bounded by a main highway and a dirt road. As with real estate, so is
deer hunting, Location, Location, Location. |
Honey Bee Tree! Not as brave as I used to be, which explains why you
really can't see the bees. Trust me they were there. I have also found
a hive of honey bees in about an 18 year old pine with a cavity about 7'
off the ground. |

Chucoluskee Snook, Everglades. 42", 24#, this was all I managed
to boat in two days of fishing in the Everglades. My fishing partner
wore me out with about 8 different snook averaging about 8 lbs. We let
the fish go......too big. All snook were caught on the fly of course.
|
Sunset sinking into the Gulf of Mexico, just off of Flamingo the
Everglades. If I listen close, I can hear the high pitched noise of the
millions upon millions of mosquitoes that we did battle with that first
night on the houseboat. Still.....probably one of the best fishing
trips I have ever been on. Truly some of God's best work again.

This was about 30 turkeys, 1/2 in the field, 1/2 in the tree line,
two nice beards in the back. This shot was taken on a property near the
129 acres and duck pond we have for sale. South of Dixie. 2/13/04 |
Young Long Leaf Pine. Slow growing. Good money tree once mature.
Different from other pines in that at the younger ages such as this they
have a rounded bushy appearance as they come up. |

Have you ever seen acorns this HUGE!!?!? These are Swamp Chestnut
Oak Acorns taken from a tract of land we sold close to the Piscola Creek
in Brooks County. You can find Swamp Chestnut Oaks around Low Creek
areas that have ridges running in them. The leaf on this tree is very
broad and serrated. I have heard of some people fertilizing these and
other acorn producing trees by digging two holes on opposite side of the
tree, (at the drip line), with post hold diggers about 1' or so deep
and filling with pot ash. Helps to boost production. Deer and Turkey
food.
